Dawkins, White Earn Falcon Spotlight Players of the Week Honors

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – In recognition of their outstanding play last week, Terry Dawkins (Bronx, N.Y.) of the men's basketball team and Diamond White (Hamden, Conn.) of the women's basketball team were crowned this week's Albertus Magnus College Falcon Spotlight Players of the Week.

Dawkins led the Falcons this past week, averaging 21.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game in a 1-1 week for Albertus. The graduate forward shot an impressive 17-for-27 (63%) from the floor, 1-for-2 (50%) from behind the arc, and 7-for-10 from the charity stripe (70%). Dawkins began his week with 18 points and 12 rebounds against the No. 1 University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) on Wednesday at home. He then put on a show against Lasell University on Saturday, pouring in 24 points on 10-for-11 (90.9%) shooting from the floor to go along with six boards in a 102-83 road win for the Falcons. Against the Lasers, Dawkins became the 19th player in program history to reach 1,000 career points.

The men's basketball team returns to the court tonight at 7:30 p.m. for a road Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) showdown against Johnson & Wales (R.I.) University.

White led the way for Albertus over a pair of wins this past week, as she averaged 18.0 points and 3.0 rebounds while shooting 14-for-28 (50.0%) from the floor, 3-for-7 (42.9%) from 3-point range and 5-for-7 (71.4%) from the line. The sophomore guard opened the week with 15 points, two boards, and a steal in a hard-fought 59-54 home win for AMC over USJ on Wednesday. White then posted a season-high 21 points with four rebounds, two assists, and a steal to help the Falcons secure an 86-66 victory over Lasell on Saturday.

The women's basketball team also heads to Providence, R.I., tonight to battle the Wildcats. Opening tipoff between AMC and JWU is slated for 5:30 p.m. at the Wildcat Center.
