NEW HAVEN, Conn. — In the first week of "Taking Flight" Players of the Week, Julia Tsakonas (West Haven, Conn.) of women's soccer and David Lucero (East Haven, Conn.) of men's soccer had oustanding performances on the pitch during their respective opening weekend matches.
Tsakonas put the Falcons on the board 53 minutes into the match against Nichols, contributing to the 2-2 tie on August 30th. She followed that performance by scoring the game-winning goal over Wentworth in the 71st minute on September 1st, pushing the Falcons to their first win on the 2024 season.
Lucero contributed an outstanding performance in net for the Falcons, including a major save off of a header 18 minutes into the game, keeping Springfield off the board in the first half. He also saved six of seven shots taken during their 1-1 draw versus the Pride.
