
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Elizabeth Bruno (Providence, R.I.) of the Albertus Magnus College women's basketball team and Matt Lenz (Grapevine, TX) of the men's ice hockey team were both named the Takin' Flight Falcons of the Week for their performance over the first week of 2025.
Bruno was an integral part of the team's three-game winning streak to kick off the new year.
On January 2, Bruno came off the bench to score six points on 3-for-6 shooting with two rebounds and an assist.
In her first start of the season on January 4 - a 70-51 win at home over Colby-Sawyer in the team's Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opener - Bruno scored a career-high 14 points on 6-for-9 shooting with three rebounds and three assists. During the team's 89-77 win at Dean on January 7, Bruno scored 11 points - including 2-for-4 from three - with a career-high nine rebounds, dishing out three assists to go with three steals.
Lenz, in his first start of 2025, stopped 30 of the 31 shots (.968 save pct) he faced, picking up the 2-1 win over Tufts in the Tampa College Hockey Invitational consolation game on January 4. It was the second game this season he has had at least 30 saves in a game. He is currently 3-2-1 in net this season.
