Despite a late-inning rally by the Falcons, thanks to an RBI single from Kyle Calechman (North Haven, Conn.), the Albertus Magnus baseball team fell to St. Mary's College of Maryland 3-2 (7 innings) in the second game of the Falcons' double-header on Tuesday afternoon.

St. Mary's improves to 11-4 with the non-conference victory, while Albertus moves to 0-4 on the year.

Albertus' Mike Barillaro (Meriden, Conn.) threw a complete six innings in his collegiate debut as he allowed just three hits on the afternoon. In his first career outing, Barillaro allowed three runs, two of which were earned, along with four walks. He also struck out three batters.

St. Mary's got on the board first as the Seahawks scored two runs in the second inning to take a quick 2-0 lead. Back-to-back doubles plated the first run of the ballgame before a passed ball extended the Seahawks' advantage. In the bottom of the third, the Seahawks added a run on a Falcon error to push their lead out to three.

The Falcons' rally came in the top of the fifth as Zak Sokolis (Meriden, Conn.) singled and advanced to second on an error to get into scoring position. He then scored on Calechman's RBI single to left to cut the Seahawks' lead to two. After the Falcons loaded the bases, Calechman crossed the plate on a wild pitch to make the score 3-2 but the Falcons' rally was halted there as A.J. Norby forced a groundout to short to end the inning.

Bobby Stouffer started on the hill for the Seahawks and threw three innings as he allowed three hits but kept the Falcons scoreless. EJ Nadolny earned the win for St. Mary's as he came in out of the bullpen and threw 1.1 innings for the Seahawks. Wick Eisenberg was able to record his second save of the season as he pitched two shutout innings to close out the game in St. Mary's favor.

Despite the loss, the Falcons connected on five hits in the contest as St. Mary's recorded just three.

The Falcons will have a day off tomorrow before traveling to Rocky Mount, N.C. to face North Carolina – Wesleyan in a 3:00 p.m. ballgame on Thursday, March 15.
