The Albertus Magnus baseball team fell to Johnson & Wales (R.I.) 20-2 in GNAC action on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats recorded 20 runs on 18 hits and four Albertus errors, while improving to 17-9 on the year and a perfect 6-0 in the league standings. Albertus moves to 5-14 overall and 2-4 in GNAC play.

The Wildcats registered an 11-run third inning to take a 19-1 advantage after three frames. Nine hits in the third led the Wildcats to their game-changing inning as they were led by six multiple-base hits, including five doubles. JWU scored five runs before a costly Albertus error allowed the inning to continue as the Wildcats took advantage of the miscue and tallied six more runs in the frame.

Albertus plated its second run of the contest in the fourth as Robert Gambardella (North Haven, Conn.) recorded his first home run of the season. His homer was one of the Falcons' eight hits as Gambardella finished the contest 3-for-3 with one run scored and an RBI. Kyle Calechman (North Haven, Conn.) added two hits, while Fanol Prevalla (Berlin, Conn.) went 1-for-3 with a run scored.

Jim Stanley (North Haven, Conn.) took the loss, his first of the season, as he fell to 2-1 on the hill. The junior pitched 1 1/3 innings before coming out of the game. He gave up eight runs and seven hits in the outing as JWU took a 6-0 lead after one complete inning. The Falcons threw six pitchers out of the bullpen in the loss.

JWU's Shawn Haugh earned the win as he allowed two runs and seven hits in five innings of work.

The Falcons return to action on Tuesday as they travel up North to Middletown, Conn. to take on Wesleyan in non-conference action. That contest is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
