The Albertus Magnus baseball team used a six-run fourth inning to cruise to an eventual 9-1 victory over Norwich University in game one of the Saturday afternoon Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) doubleheader.

The Falcons' six-run frame was capped by a two-run home run over the wall in left center by freshman Jack Pritchard (Orange, Conn.). For Pritchard, it was the first of his collegiate career.

With the win, the Falcons improve to 3-7 on the year and use the home opening victory to open league play 1-0.

Albertus used four hits in the frame to score the six runs. Justin Poirier (Meriden, Conn.) registered an RBI single through the infield to give Albertus a 2-1 lead. Zak Sokolis (Meriden, Conn.) followed with a sacrifice fly to right field to score the Falcons' third run of the contest before Anthony Pellegrino (Branford, Conn.) hit a bases clearing double to give Albertus a 5-1 lead.

The Falcons added runs in the fifth and the sixth innings en route to the 9-1 victory.

The Falcons plated their first run of the game as Nick Sedia (Bronx, N.Y.) scored on a wild pitch to give Albertus an early 1-0 advantage.

Norwich tied the contest at one on a sacrifice fly out by Cody Lindell in the top of the fourth inning.  Lindell's deep fly ball into center was enough to score Billy Whaley from third.

Matthew Finkenzeller (Wolcott, Conn.) threw the seven-inning complete game as he gave up just four hits, while striking out one batter.  He improved to 1-1 on the year.  Norwich's Brad Hudson earned the loss as he gave up four runs to the Falcons.

Poirier finished the contest 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored, while Pellegrino added a 2-for-3 outing with three RBI.  Sage Leonard (Northford, Conn.) finished the game with two doubles.
