Falcons Fall to Lasell 6-3

Lasell College defeated the Albertus Magnus baseball team 6-3 to complete the two-game sweep of the Falcons on Saturday night in West Haven.  With the win, Lasell improved to 7-11 overall and 3-3 in GNAC play, while Albertus falls to 6-9 on the year and 4-2 in conference action.

Lasell put two runs on the board in the second inning thanks to a double by Rob Madden that plated both runners. Albertus cut into the lead with a run in the third as Nick Sedia (Bronx, N.Y.) scored on a wild pitch.

The Lasers added two more runs in the fourth on three hits. A double by Madden scored the first run before Madden scored on a base hit by Billy Uberti.

An RBI triple by Robert Gambardella (North Haven, Conn.) scored the Falcons third run of the contest before the senior scored on a Arber Mehmedi (Naugatuck, Conn.) sacrifice fly to centerfield as Albertus cut the Lasell lead to 4-3. The Lasers added two runs in the top of the seventh to extend their lead to 6-3.

Brian Levchuk (Branford, Conn.) took the loss to fall to 0-3 on the year. He gave up four runs on seven hits.  Chris Massimino (Wallingford, Conn.) came out of the bullpen for the Falcons in the top of the fifth inning with runners on the corners and one out. After an infield out, Massimino forced a groundout to get out of the inning.

Tyler Donnan (Meriden, Conn.) came in to pitch the seventh and gave up two runs on two hits.

Matti Doxter improved to 2-2 after five innings of work.  He walked five batters and gave up four hits, while striking out three. Vinny Romano came into the ball game to pick up the save.

Albertus returns to action on Sunday with a doubleheader at Anna Maria College.
