The Albertus Magnus College baseball team has been picked fifth in the 2014 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Preseason Poll as announced by the league office on Wednesday night.
The Falcons, who finished the 2013 season with an overall record of 13-18 and a GNAC finish of 7-9, went into the GNAC Tournament last year as the fifth seed before falling to fourth-seeded Lasell 5-3.
Saint Joseph's Maine was picked as the league favorite after winning four-straight GNAC titles. The Monks received six first-place votes in the league poll to go along with 60 points after receiving two votes in the D3baseball.com Preseason Poll.
The Suffolk University Rams finished second in the poll with 57 points and the other two first place votes, while Johnson & Wales (R.I.) was slated as the No. 3 team.
Albertus is scheduled to open the season on Sunday, March 2 at Baseball Heaven against Saint Joseph's College of Brooklyn.
