The Albertus Magnus baseball team fell to Lasell in back-to-back games of a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) doubleheader on Sunday afternoon in West Haven, Conn.  The Lasers improved to 15-9 on the year and 9-3 in league play with the win, while Albertus fell to 10-13 overall and 3-7 in GNAC action.

In game one, Lasell defeated Albertus 5-0 as Matt Sammarco drove in two runs, while Ryan Bowen struck out four in seven innings of work from the mound. In the bottom of the second inning, Chris Pittman scored the Lasers' first run of the game on a single by Hector Coscione before both Coscione and Bobby Ellard scored on a Sammarco double to make the score 3-0.

Albertus threatened in the fourth inning as Anthony Pellegrino (Branford, Conn.) ripped a one-out double off the left- field fence before Jack Pritchard (Orange, Conn.) walked with two outs to add pressure to the Laser defense.  Unfortunately, the Falcons couldn't take advantage of its runners on base as Pellegrino was thrown out at home on a base hit to right field by Kris Daur-Schierholz (East Haven, Conn.).

Lasell took a 5-0 lead in the fifth inning thanks to hits from Brandon Valentin, Dan Gagnon, and Billy Uberti.  Uberti tallied a bases-clearing single to extend his team's lead.

Mike Barillaro (Meriden, Conn.) fell to 2-2 on the year as he allowed five runs on 10 hits in six innings.

In game two, Uberti led the Lasers with two hits, including a home run, while adding two runs and an RBI. Lasell's  Rob Madden threw all seven innings for Lasell as he allowed four hits in the shutout as Lasell won 3-0.

Uberti put the Lasers ahead 1-0 as Uberti belted a homer over the right field fence.

The Lasers added two more runs in the third inning as a Pittman double scored Uberti before Pittman scored on a double by Kevin Post.

Brian Levchuk (Branford, Conn.) allowed three runs on seven hits, while he fell to 1-3 on the year.  The Falcons also walked two batters and struck out three.

Albertus will head to Gordon on Tuesday when they take on Gordon in a non-conference single game scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
