Four Falcons Earn GNAC All-Conference Honors for Baseball

Four members of the Albertus Magnus baseball team have been named to the 2014 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) All-Conference Teams as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

For the third-straight year, Anthony Pellegrino (Branford, Conn.) has earned All-Conference honors as he was tagged as a First Team member for the first time in his career. 

Jack Pritchard (Orange, Conn.) was named to the All-Conference Second Team, while seniors Patrick Dornfried (Berlin, Conn.) and Zak Sokolis (Meriden, Conn.) were named to the Third Team, respectively.

During the regular season, Pellegrino led the Falcons with 30 hits in 25 games played along with a .390 batting average.  He also led the team with eight doubles, one triple and six walks. In conference play, he had 18 hits, six RBI and seven runs to lead Albertus and was ranked second in the league with a .390 average and tied for third with eight doubles.

Pritchard tallied 23 hits, six runs, and six doubles and had one home run and 15 RBI. He batted .329 with a .457 slugging percentage as well.  He also tallied 11 hits and three RBI in conference play for the Falcons.

In the regular season, Dornfried led the team with 89 at-bats and 21 runs scored.  He recorded his 100th career hit against Rivier on Thursday, April 17 in West Haven and registered 25 hits on the year and six doubles to go along with six walks, 16 RBI and three stolen bases – all during the regular season.

Sokolis led Albertus with 19 RBI and six walks to go along with two home runs.  He tallied three stolen bases and had 24 hits, 20 runs scored, and five doubles.  He was ranked tied for third in the GNAC with two home runs and was ranked tied for seventh with 19 RBI.

Jordan Kubilus (Cheshire, Conn.) was named to the 2014 All-Sportsmanship Team as well.

The Falcons are currently 14-14 on the year and finished the regular season with a 7-7 record in league play.  Albertus is scheduled to play four non-conference contests this week.
