Myrtle Beach, S.C. – The Albertus Magnus College baseball team dropped both ends of doubleheader versus Washington College on Monday afternoon in The Ripken Experience at Griffith Stadium. The Shoremen took the opener, 11-0, and won the nightcap, 19-8.

With the two setbacks, the Falcons move to 0-4 on the year, while Washington College improves to 6-1-1 overall.

In game one, three different Shoremen hurlers held AMC to just one hit, while striking out seven en route to the win. Chase Thomas worked the first four innings to earn his first victory of the spring for Washington College, while Albertus Magnus starter Michael Terzi (Wallingford, Conn.) was saddled with the loss. In three innings of work, Terzi allowed two runs and struck out three.

After plating two runs in the second frame, the Shoremen blew the game open with six runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth. At the dish, AMC senior catcher Mike Saia (Bridgeport, Conn.) recorded the team's lone hit.

In the finale, the Falcons erupted for a season-high eight runs in a losing effort. The Albertus Magnus bats woke up as the team recorded 12 hits and plated runs in each of the three stanzas.

Washington College came out of the gates charging in game two, scoring six runs in the first, four in the second and six more in the third. The Shoremen hit three home runs in the contest and recorded their third straight win against AMC to open their spring break trip.

Offensively, seniors Justin Poirier (Meriden, Conn.) and Steven Lockman (Wallingford, Conn.) paced the Falcon attack with three hits apiece, while Terzi added two hits and one run scored. Lockman registered two RBIs courtesy of two seperate run-scoring singles and Poirer smacked a pair of doubles for Albertus Magnus.

Albertus Magnus returns to action on Tuesday, March 15, with a doubleheader against Alfred State beginning at 3:00 pm.
