Baseball Lands Three Falcons on GNAC All-Conference

WINTHROP, Mass. – Fifth-year seniors Matt Warren (Wolcott, Conn.), Brandon Clark (Cheshire, Conn.), and Justen Rodriguez (Waterbury, Conn.) of the Albertus Magnus College baseball team all earned 2021 All-Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) honors after stellar senior seasons, as announced by the league office on Wednesday.

Warren ended his illustrious career with a First-Team All-Conference selection as a fifth-year senior, his third such accolade. The Wolcott, Conn., native slashed .419/.514/.726 at the plate in 2021 and led the Falcons in batting average with a .419 mark, which was also good for fifth in the GNAC. Warren also ranks second in the conference in slugging percentage (.726), fifth in on-base percentage (.514), tied for sixth in doubles (8), and tied for ninth in home runs (3). Besides leading the Falcons in batting average, Warren also paced the team in doubles, while being tied for second in home runs, RBIs (13), and runs scored (14).

Throughout his tenure, Warren batted to the tune of a .344 clip, with a .429 career on-base percentage and a .726 slugging percentage. The third baseman ranks first in program history with 14 career triples, second with 16 homers, and third with 34 doubles and 127 RBIs.

Clark garnered a Third-Team All-Conference Selection as a senior. He led the Falcons with 16 RBIs, 15 runs, and two triples, in addition to maintaining a slash line of .258/.403/.516. The product of Cheshire, Conn., also tallied three home runs and three doubles on 16 hits. In the GNAC, Clark ranked tied for second in the conference in triples and ninth in home runs. In addition to his All-Conference recognition, Clark was Albertus' representative on the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

Just like Warren, Clark also progressed up the Albertus all-time leaderboards, ending his career tied for third in home runs (14), sixth in runs scored (109), tied for ninth in RBIs (74), and 10th in doubles (28).

Rodriguez capped his Albertus career with his first All-Conference Selection, earning a place on the Third-Team as a designated hitter. The Waterbury, Conn., native broke out in his final season, setting new career-highs across the board in hits (18), RBIs (13), runs (11), home runs (4), and batting average (.310). Rodriguez also tallied new career-highs across all three parts of his .310/.333/.569 slash line. He paced the Falcons and ranked second in the GNAC with his quartet of homers.

Rodriguez batted a combined .260 for his career with a .286 on-base percentage and a .390 slugging percentage, finishing with 11 doubles, five home runs, and 27 RBIs.
