STANDISH, Maine — First-year Albert Molina (Terryville, Conn.) notched his second complete-game victory and classmate Tyler Czeremcha (New Britain, Conn.) drove in four Falcons in the Albertus Magnus College baseball team's 8-1 win over Great Northeast Athletic Conference opponent Saint Joseph's College (Me.) on Saturday.
Albertus collected five two-baggers as Troy Piascik (East Haven, Conn.) connected for a trio and Shawn Smith (Shelton, Conn.) kissed his first home run of the season. Molina retired three straight Monks in the first, fourth, seventh and eighth innings with a career-high six strikeouts.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Falcons opened the scoring with a run on three hits in the top of the second before the teams endured a lengthy rain delay during the bottom of the inning. Czeremcha reached on a fielder's choice to allow Smith to cross the plate for the first run of the day for the visitors. Smith led off the frame with a double to left field followed by two consecutive singles by Piascik and Eric Galarza (Bridgeport, Conn.).

Two innings later, Czeremcha lifted the Falcons to a 3-0 lead with a two-run double along the left-field line as Piascik and Galarza crossed home.

The Monks got on the board in the bottom of the fifth when Alex Moore and Brady Cabral hit back-to-back doubles.

The visitors tacked on another run in the top of the sixth inning when Piascik doubled and scored on a Bobby Arent (Ridgefield, Conn.) base hit.

Albertus capped the scoring in the top of the seventh when Smith belted a three-run homer to deep left-center and Galarza raced home after Czeremcha reached on a fielder's choice.
