New Haven, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College field hockey team suffered a 4-0 loss to Johnson & Wales University on Wednesday evening in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play at Celentano Field.

Prior to the start of the game, the Albertus field hockey team honored the program's second senior class - Victoria Torres (West Haven, Conn.), Monica Colon (Newark, N.J.), Veronica Colon (Newark, N.J.) and Morgan Shura (Wallingford, Conn.).

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Wildcats had four different scorers with Kerrianne Fagan, McKayla Weaver, Natalie Rivas and Heather Lind all sneaking one past the Falcons keeper. Freshman Ariana Martin (Hamden, Conn.) led the Falcons' offensive unit with four shot attempts, including two on target, while Katherin Martinez (Norwalk, Conn.) posted a shot in fourth period. 

Johnson & Wales struck quickly, as Fagan netted her first goal of the season in the sixth minute of action. With less than a minute remaining in the first, Weaver forced the ball in the cage, on a cross pass from Jillian Miele to put the visitors up 2-0.

The Falcons' backline, including keeper Mikayla Lyston (Medford, N.Y.), held the Wildcats to no goals, despite 10 shot attempts, over the next two periods to keep the score at 2-0.

JWU put the game away in the fourth period, however, as the vistors scored two insurance goals at the 50th and 56th minute of play, respectively.

• Lyston recorded another stellar performance in cage for the Falcons, as the rookie keeper made 13 saves.
