HOW IT HAPPENED
Colby-Sawyer took control of the contest early on, ripping off a penalty corner at the two-minute mark before quickly following with a shot attempt that went wide. However, the Falcons responded at the 5:20 mark, firing off a pair of shots before Ariana Martin (Hamden, Conn.) found herself with the ball and seamlessly dribbled up the field through the press of defenders. Martin then rifled a shot past the Chargers' goaltender, Julia Carr, to give the home team a 1-0 lead 6:05 into the contest.

Colby-Sawyer's Destiny Cruz wasted no time, responding with her own goal less than a minute later to knot the score at 1-all. The Chargers would strike again at the eight-minute mark, as Colby-Sawyer's Aleah Murph snuck one through the pipes to give the visitors their first lead of the day, 2-1. With less than five minutes remaining in the first quarter, the Chargers offense struck again, sending another ball into the cage for a 3-1 score.

A mere 15 seconds later, the Falcons cut the deficit in half, 3-2, on a goal by Brodman. An Alexis Duranleau (Wheelock, VT) pass found Brodman waiting near the goal, where she promptly deposited it past the Chargers' keeper and into the back corner of the cage.

The Chargers would try vainly to regain their two-goal lead as the clock ticked down to the final minutes of the first quarter, firing off a trio of shots that Falcons' keeper, Lillian Woods (New London, NH), blocked with ease.

The Chargers took control of the second quarter, scoring five unanswered goals to take a commanding 8-2 advantage heading into the halftime break.

Colby-Sawyer picked up right where they left off in the third quarter, scoring a pair of goals in the first 10 minutes of the frame to widen the gap and give them an eight-goal cushion, 10-2. The visitors added an insurance goal at the 42-minute mark to finish the third quarter with an 11-2 lead.

The fourth quarter started slowly, with neither team able to gain an offense edge.

With the clock ticking down into the final three minutes of play, Albertus added another goal to its tally to cut its deficit to 11-3. With just three minutes left, A. Duranleau found Brodman and fed her a pass that Brodman slipped by the keeper and into the cage. Unfortunately for the Falcons, the clock was not on their side, expiring moments later to seal the match, 11-3, in favor of the visitors.
