Field Hockey Drops Home Tilt vs. Saint Joseph's (Me.)

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Albertus Magnus College field hockey team suffered a 12-0 loss to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) leaders of the Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Saturday afternoon at Celentano Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Monks held the possession for most of the first half, finishing with two goals while not allowing a shot. Emma Rutledge netted both goals in the half, the first in the second minute and the second in the 10th.

In the second quarter, Saint Joseph's added to its lead, scoring three more times to go ahead 5-0 heading into halftime. Haley Brann tallied the first goal of the quarter 23:53 into the match, while Alexis Beardsley and Megan Quirion also found pay dirt. Danielle Libby and Alexa Gutowski were credited with assists in the second quarter.

The Monks continued to pressure in the second half, finishing the contest with seven more goals on their way to a 12-0 win. Rutledge paced all players with five goals in the match, while Megan Mourmouras and Quirion each had two goals.

Albertus' lone chance of the day came off the stick of Alexis Duranleau (Wheelock, Vt.), who sent the ball towards the cage after a penalty corner, but the keeper was prepared as she kicked the ball out of the circle.

Lillian Woods (New London, N.H.) did her best between the pipes for the Falcons, tallying a season-best 24 saves.
