Field Hockey Ranked 12th in GNAC Preseason Poll

WINTHROP, Mass. – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) released its 2022 Field Hockey Preseason Coaches' Poll on Thursday afternoon, with Albertus Magnus College garnering 12th place with 14 points. The league's 12 head coaches voted on the poll.

The Falcons posted a record-breaking season in 2021, setting new program marks in points (28), goals (10), and assists (8). Freshman Alexis Duranleau (Wheelock, Vt.) stole the show for AMC with a team-leading 11 points, four goals, and three assists. 

Johnson & Wales (R.I.) University claimed the top spot in the 2022 rankings after winning its first-ever GNAC Title in 2021, accumulating 138 points and capturing six of the possible 12 first-place votes. Saint Joseph's College of Maine was awarded runner-up honors, amassing 127 points and taking home three of the remaining six first-place votes. Colby-Sawyer College earned 124 points which was good for third in the polls. Simmons University and Lasell University rounded out the top five, taking 104 and 87 points, respectively.

Elms College earned the final first-place vote and grabbed 79 points to place sixth. The second half of the poll started with Anna Maria College (71) in seventh place, followed closely by Rivier University (70) in eighth place.

The University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) (48) and Regis (Mass.) College (45) finished in the No. 9 and 10 spots, while the GNAC poll was completed by Dean College with 29 points in 11th.
