Field Hockey Falls in Season Opener at Ramapo

MAHWAH, N.J. – The Albertus Magnus College field hockey team opened the 2022 season with a road setback to the Road Runners of Ramapo College, 10-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Falcons battled tough in the opening quarter, dropping the frame by a tight 2-0 margin.
• The Roadrunners caught fire in the second period on their way to building their lead to 7-0 through the first 30 minutes.
• Albertus showed resolve in the second half, limiting Ramapo to just three goals to close out the contest.
• Freshman goalkeeper Serena Montague (Englishtown, N.J.) started in the cage for AMC and made a whopping 22 saves in a complete-game effort.
Madison Duranleau (Wheelock, Vt.) tallied a shot for the Falcons.

• Today's game is the first ever between Albertus and Ramapo.
• Montague, Melina Tarzia (Stamford, Conn.), Alexandra Barrett (Northford, Conn.), Laurel Maus (Woodbridge, Conn.), and Samantha Helwig (Northford, Conn.) all made their collegiate debuts today.
• Montague became the fourth goalie in program history to tally 20-plus saves in a game.

UP NEXT
The Falcons return to the field on Thursday, Sept. 8, to play Rivier University in AMC's Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opener. The league bout begins at 7 p.m. in Nashua, N.H.
