Field Hockey Scores Twice in Hard-Fought Loss at Regis, 4-2

WESTON, Mass. – The Albertus Magnus College field hockey team dropped a close contest to the Pride of Regis (Mass.) College, 4-2, on Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action in Weston, Mass.

Brittany Yarrow (Stamford, Conn.) and Madison Duranleau (Wheelock, Vt.) both scored goals for the Falcons, while Melina Tarzia (Stamford, Conn.) and Ariana Martin (Hamden, Conn.) each recorded an assist.

In goal, Serena Montague (Englishtown, N.J.) recorded her second 10-plus save effort of the season, making 16 stops in cage.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Pride came out hot to start the first quarter, tallying seven straight shot attempts, with Montague making three saves.
• Morgan Pero got the Pride on the board in the eighth minute to give the hosts an early 1-0 advantage.
• The Falcons tied the game at 1-all in the second quarter, as Duranleau took a pass from Tarzia and fired it into the back of the net.
• Regis regained the lead two minutes later on a goal by Frankie Allie to take a 2-1 lead into the halftime break.
• The Pride scored a quick insurance goal in the third quarter to go up 3-1.
• In the 37th minute, Albertus answered when Martin connected with Yarrow to cut the deficit in half, 3-2.
• The Pride added to its lead in the fourth quarter to go up 4-2 with 11:22 remaining in regulation.
• Despite four shots and two penalty corners over the final 10 minutes, the Falcons could not trim the deficit, and the game ended in a 4-2 AMC setback.

The Albertus Magnus field hockey team will welcome the Lasers of Lasell University on Saturday, Sept. 17, for their home opener. The conference showdown will begin at 2:30 p.m. at Celentano Field.
