Montague Collects GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week Honor After Record Week

WINTHROP, Mass. – After posting a historic performance this past week, Serena Montague (Englishtown, N.J.) of the Albertus Magnus College field hockey team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Goalkeeper of the Week, as announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Against two of the top teams in the GNAC, Montague tallied 59 saves (29.5 per game) and posted a .819 save percentage against Johnson & Wales (R.I.) University and Saint Joseph's College of Maine. The junior keeper first made 24 stops against the league-leading Wildcats on Wednesday. She then turned in one of the best goalie performances of the season against SJC, making 35 saves on Saturday afternoon in road league action. Her 35 stops were both a new single-game program record for AMC, and the most saves by a Division III goalie in a game this season.

The Falcons return to the field on Tuesday, Oct. 11, for a 3:30 p.m. conference bout against the Bulldogs of Dean College in Franklin, Mass.
