Scheid Scores Early for Field Hockey, Falls 2-1 to Anna Maria

PAXTON, Mass. - The Albertus Magnus College field hockey team fell in a narrowly fought game to the AMCATS of Anna Maria College on Saturday afternoon, 2-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Albertus came out of the gate with a quick goal at the 1:55 minute mark when Paige Scheid (West Orange, N.J.) was able to notch the Falcons' first goal of the season. 

The Falcons kept the AMCATS at bay with a strong defensive effort in the half, however Megan Tegethoff was able to score with less than three minutes remaining in the second quarter. 

The score remained tied until Madison Marie-Romano scored the eventual game winner in the third quarter at the 40:10 minute mark.

  • The Falcons had one yellow card presented to Amber DeJonge (Grand Rapids, Mich.) and two green cards shown to Melina Tarzia (Stamford, Conn.). The AMCATS had one yellow card presented to Nicole Lacoste and one green card shown to Eden Forget.

NOTEWORTHY

  • Scheid's goal is the first of her career and the first goal of the Falcons' 2023 season.

The Falcons return to action on the road in a GNAC matchup against the Lasers of Lasell University on Saturday, Sept. 16. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.
