Elms: Kaitlyn Lynes (0-6)

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Falcons didn't take long getting on the board in the first period as a shot from Paige Scheid (West Orange, N.J.) was redirected from an Elms defender into the net to give Albertus the 1-0 lead. It was the second goal of the season for Scheid.

Gabrielle Dellacroce (Woodbridge, Conn.) scored her second goal of the season the 25th minute of action, fighting off a defender who tried to dispossess her and ripping a shot past Elms goalie, Kaitlyn Lynes.

Gootjes wasted little time in the second half scoring her two goals. At the 35:36 mark, Gootjes streaked to the far post as Scheid found her with a wide-open net as Lynes came out of the crease. Gootjes easily put the ball in for her third goal of the season. With 3:05 remaining in the third, the two paired up again. Similar to her first goal of the game, Gootjes again was found on the far post by Scheid, who put it home for her fourth goal in the last two games.

Elms tacked on their lone goal of the game with just over a minute remaining from Isabella Perez.

NOTEWORTHY

  • It was the second consecutive game that Gootjes scored two goals. She now has four on the season to lead the Falcons, matching a program record.
  • Gootjes is now the first player in program history to have back-to-back multi-goal games.
  • Helwig earned her first career win in net, stopping eight shots.
  • The Falcons have now won two games in a row against Elms as the teams are 2-2 all-time against each other.
