HOW IT HAPPENED

The Falcons and Chargers were scoreless through the first period as Samantha Helwig (Northford, Conn) stopped both shots she faced.

It took until the 23:07 mark for anyone to get on the board as the Chargers broke through on a goal from Aleah Murph as she was on the receiving end on two straight centering passes from Ryleigh LaPorte and Taylor Gaudette. It was the only goal in the half as Helwig was able to keep the other two shots she faced in the period out of the net.

The Chargers scored just under three minutes into the third period on a goal from Abby Olden intercepted a pass inside the box and scored on her own to make it a 2-0 game.

Laporte scored for the Chargers at the 40:25 mark, but Clark was able to get the Falcons on the board just over two minutes later as she took a backhanded pass from Paige Scheid (West Orange, N.J.) inside the box. Chargers goaltender Carly Bernard was caught out of net and Clark had a wide-open net to make it a 3-1 game. It was the only shot on goal in the second half for the Falcons as the Chargers tacked on two more goals in the fourth quarter, including Olden's second goal of the game.
