NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College field hockey team was picked to finish tied for eleventh as the 2024 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) preseason poll was released.
The Falcons earned 37 voting points, tying them with Anna Maria.
Johnson and Wales, the three-time defending GNAC champions were picked first with 168 voting points, including 12 first-place votes. Lasell and Simmons were picked tied for second with 140 voting points each. Lasell received one first-place vote.
Albertus opens up its season at home against Ramopo on Friday, August 30 beginning at 3:00 p.m. The Falcons start conference play on Tuesday, September 3rd as they host Lasell at 6:00 p.m.
Teams will complete a 12-game single round robin conference season with the top-eight teams at the end of the regular season qualifying for the 2024 GNAC Field Hockey Championship Tournament. The postseason starts with the quarterfinal round on Saturday, Nov. 2 with the winners moving on to the semifinals on Wednesday, Nov. 6. The tournament will conclude with the GNAC Championship match on Saturday, Nov. 9 with winner claiming the title of GNAC Champion and earning the league's automatic qualifier into the 2024 NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship.
