WAYNE, N.J. - Laurel Maus (Woodbridge, Conn.) scored her first career goal, but the Albertus Magnus College field hockey team lost a 3-1 non-conference game to William Paterson on Wednesday evening.
The goal from Maus came in the 47:07 mark of the fourth period. Ella Welton had four saves in net for the Falcons.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- William Paterson had six penalty corners in the first period, but the Albertus defense prevented any shots on goal as the teams finished the first 15 minutes scoreless.
- The Pioneers got on the board less than four minutes into the second period as Julia Dennehy scored on a loose ball in front of the cage.
- After the halftime break in a 1-0 game, the Pioneers added a second goal on a shot from Alexandra Stoner at the 35:46 mark.
- Maus trimmed the deficit to one in the fourth quarter as she rebounded her own shot and put it in the back of the cage past Pioneer goalkeeper, Sofia Chebookjian to make it a one-goal game at 2-1.
- However, exactly three minutes later, Julia Menn gave the Pioneers an insurance goal for the final tally of the game.
