Boston, MA - The Albertus Magnus College Falcons couldn't overcome their off shooting night against host and Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opponent Emerson College dropping a 79-69 decision. The Falcons struggled from beyond the arc shooting just 2-13 in the game. The GNAC loss was the first of the season for Falcons who are 5-5, 3-1 GNAC.
Albertus trailed 41-31 at the half and came into the second half with a purpose. The Falcons used a 10-2 run to start the second half and cut the Emerson lead to 43-41 with 17:15 remaining.
The game continued to go back and forth as freshman forward Darius Watson (New Britain, CT/New Britain) made a lay-up to make the score 45-44 Emerson College with 14:50 remaining.
Watson would cap another Falcon run with a lay-up at the 8:20 mark to bring Albertus within striking distance 56-53.
Emerson College would pull away with a 14-4 run to make the score 70-57 with just over four minutes remaining and Albertus couldn't overcome it.
Albertus was led by junior forward Ray Askew (New Haven, CT/Career) scored 17 points and had five rebounds while Watson also added 17 points and five rebounds.
Emerson College (5-5, 2-2 GNAC) was led by sophomore guard Alex Dempsey (Anchorage, AK/West) and his game high 27 points and six rebounds.
The Falcons travel to Newton, MA to take on GNAC opponent Mount Ida College for a 5:00 pm tip-off.
