Falcons Win 92-81 Over Mount Ida College

Newton, MA - The Albertus Magnus College Men's Basketball team stayed in a first place tie in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) with their 92-81 win over host Mount Ida College.  The Falcons used outstanding three point shooting all night shooting 9-22 from beyond the arc including 5-10 in the second half.

Freshman forward Darius Watson's (New Britain, CT/New Britain) three-point play with 11:06 remaining in the second half capped a 7-0 run giving the Falcons the 67-57 lead and control for the rest of the contest.

Albertus received an incredible performance from senior guard Walden St. Juste (Hartford, CT/Bulkeley) team high 22 points including 7-11 from the field.  Junior forward Ray Askew was 7-12 from the field chipping in 21 points including a game high 11 rebounds.  Watson chipped in 20 points on 8-13 shooting.

Mount Ida received a strong performance from junior guard Isiah Benjamin (Windsor, CT/The Master School) as he scored a game high 29 points on 9-24 shooting from the field.  Junior guard David Gibbs (East Hartford, CT/The Master School) chipped in 19 points.

The Falcons improved to 6-5, 4-1 GNAC and remain in a first place tie with St. Joseph's College (Maine) in the GNAC standings.  Mount Ida drops to 4-8, 1-4 GNAC on the season.

Albertus returns to action on Saturday at 1:00 pm when they host GNAC opponent Rivier College.
