Falcons Dominate Norwich 102-57

The Albertus Magnus men's basketball team earned a dominating 102-57 win over Norwich on Thursday night in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action.

With the win, the Falcons improve to 6-1 on the year and 2-0 in the GNAC standings. Norwich drops to 1-6 overall and 0-1 to open league play as the Cadets picked up their fourth-straight loss. The Falcons are now 7-0 against Norwich dating back to the 2008-09 season. The Cadets have not defeated the Falcons since their 73-63 win on Jan. 19, 2008.

Darius Watson (New Britain, Conn.) led all scorers with 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the floor. He tallied three 3-pointers in the contest, while grabbing six rebounds. Tonight marked Watson's seventh-straight game with double figures, including his fourth game of the year with 20 or more points.

Arshad Jackson (Hartford, Conn.) and Zach Dugas (Monroe, Conn.) both contributed with double-digit efforts as Jackson registered 14 points for the second-straight contest. Dugas added 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field.

The Falcons opened the contest with a 12-2 run then added a 16-0 run in a span of 5:46 to take a commanding 30-9 lead. Albertus shot 21-of-34 from the field in the first half, including a 6-of-11 clip from behind the arc.

The Falcons finished out the first half with a 23-2 run to go into the break with a 61-19 advantage.

Norwich committed 13 turnovers in the opening frame as the Falcons scored 24 points off those miscues.

In the second half, Albertus shot 51.6-percent, while holding Norwich to just under 40-percent. On the night, the Falcons shot 56.9-percent, a 37-of-65 clip from the floor and hit 10-of-20 attempts from behind the arc. The Falcons also hit 18-of-26 from the charity stripe.

Ray Askew (Hamden, Conn.)  added seven points for the Falcons, as he now has 1,751 career points. Chris Cagle (New Haven, Conn.) tallied eight points and seven rebounds, while he was a perfect 6-of-6 from the free-throw line.

The Falcons will play their fourth game in a span of eight days on Saturday when they host Rivier in GNAC play. Game time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m., directly following the Albertus Magnus women's basketball contest versus the Raiders at 1:00 p.m.
