For the third consecutive week, Ray Askew (Hamden, Conn.) has been tagged as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference men's basketball Player of the Week. Freshman Spencer Smith (New Haven, Conn.) was named GNAC Rookie of the Week as well.

Askew led the Falcons to a 3-0 week and their second GNAC Tournament title in the last three seasons. He was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player for his efforts, while he was also named to the All-Tournament team as he averaged 17 points a game for the Falcons on the week.

The senior also shot 53-percent from the floor during last week's competition and pulled down 8.3 rebounds per contest.

Smith, who was named the league's Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this season, averaged 4.7 points and 6.3 rebounds per game for the Falcons. He played a solid 14.7 minutes per contest and posted double-figures in points in the title game against Anna Maria. In that contest, Smith scored 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting and pulled down six rebounds.
