Jackson, Watson Lead Falcons in 93-82 Win vs Emmanuel

Arshad Jackson (Hartford, Conn.) and Darius Watson (New Britain, Conn.) combined for 50 points as the Albertus Magnus men's basketball team downed Emmanuel College 93-82 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play on Monday night.

Watson, who finished with 30 points, shot 11-of-20 from the floor to register his fourth game of the year with 30 or more points. Jackson netted 20 points for his 10th game of the year in double digits. Jackson finished the game with eight assists, two steals and eight rebounds.

With the win, Albertus improves to 18-2 on the year and 13-1 in GNAC play, while Emmanuel falls to 4-15 overall and 4-8 in league action.

The Falcons' shot 46.4% in the opening half led by 11 points from James Jennings (Stratford, Conn.) and 10 points from Watson. Albertus also held a 19-9 rebounding advantage in the first half as Lemar Larsen (Waterbury, Conn.), Jefferson Lora (Bronx, N.Y.) and Jackson each pulled down five rebounds apiece.

Emmanuel shot 40.9% from the floor in the first half and hit 15-of-16 from the free-throw line as the Falcons held just a seven-point lead at the half at 41-34. Albertus held the Saints without a field goal in the final 3:38 of the frame.

Albertus came out in the second half and shot 51.4% from the field, a 19-of-37 showing, while hitting 3-of-9 from behind the arc.

Emmanuel stayed in the game by shooting 58.3% in the second half, while connecting on 30-of-36 from the free-throw line for an 83.3% showing.

The Falcons scored 50 points in the paint along with 26 second-chance points. Lora finished with 15 points and nine rebounds, while Larsen added a team-high 11 boards.

The Falcons return to action on Thursday, Jan. 31 when they head to Suffolk University for a 7:00 p.m. match-up.
