Four of the Falcons' five starters scored in double figures as the #12 Albertus Magnus men's basketball team downed Rivier University 87-53 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Monday afternoon.
With the victory, the Falcons extend their home-court winning streak to 49 games as that streak is the longest current home winning streak in NCAA men's basketball (all levels).
The win also improves the Falcons' overall record to 14-1 and their GNAC mark to a perfect 9-0.
Victor Ljuljdjuraj (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) led all scorers with 14 points as he added 11 rebounds for his ninth double-double of the season.
Tavon Sledge (Spring Valley, N.Y.) added 13 points and seven assists in 36 minutes of work, while James Jennings (Bridgeport, Conn.) contributed with 12 points on 4-of-13 shooting. Lemar Larsen (Waterbury, Conn.) added 10 points to round out the Falcons' double-figure scorers as he was 1-of-1 from the floor and 8-of-10 from the free-throw line.
Both teams struggled in the opening frame, shooting under 40% from the floor. The Falcons trailed by four at 13-9 at the 11:55 mark in the first half as it was Rivier's largest lead of the contest. The Falcons did not let the Raiders' lead last long as they went on a 9-0 run to take an 18-13 lead.
Albertus also out-rebounded Rivier 51-31 on the afternoon.
Larsen added 13 rebounds, a game-high.
The Falcons return to action on Saturday when they head to Standish, Maine to take on St. Joseph's College of Maine in a 2:00 p.m. GNAC contest.
