Winthrop, Mass. – Albertus Magnus College freshman men's basketball player Shontaey Lovell (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was tabbed as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week on Monday as announced by the league office.
Lovell earns the honor for the league-best 10th time after leading the Falcons to a 1-1 showing in conference play last week.
Lovell averaged 15.5 points and 7.5 rebounds as the Falcons remained in third-place in the GNAC standings. In a 10-point win at Rivier, Lovell knocked down 9-of-10 shots from the field for 26 points to go along with nine rebounds and four assists. He ended the week with five points and six rebounds in a setback at Lasell.
Albertus Magnus returns to action on Tuesday, February 9, with a home conference clash against Anna Maria at 7:00 pm inside the Nest. The Falcons are looking to complete the season sweep of the AMCATS after taking the first meeting between the two, 108-93.
