New Haven, Conn. – The Albertus Magnus College men's basketball team finished the regular season with an 18-5 overall record and earned the No. 3 seed in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament thanks to a 14-4 mark in league play.

The Falcons open post-season play on Tuesday, February 23, with a home contest against sixth-seeded Mount Ida at 7:00 pm inside The Nest at the Cosgrove Marcus Messer Athletic Center. The winning team will advance to Thursday's Semifinal round. The winner of the GNAC Tournament will determine the league's automatic qualifier for the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.

Albertus Magnus swept the season series aginst the Mustangs in 2015-16, winning on the road by five points and cruising to a 16-point triumph at home. AMC freshman forward Shontaey Lovell (Brooklyn, N.Y.) averaged 20 points and 12 rebounds versus Mount Ida, while senior wing Marc Wilson (Jersey City, N.J.) scored over 20 points in both victories.

Albertus Magnus enters the post-season riding a four-game winning streak. The Falcons are making their 16th overall appearance in the GNAC Tournament, owning a 23-9 overall record in the event. The team has captured four straight conference titles and won 12 GNAC Tournament games in a row. Tuesday's showdown will be the first-ever between AMC and Mount Ida in post-season play.

The Falcons leads the GNAC in field goal percentage, hitting over 47 percent of its shots from the field. The squad also leads the conference in rebounding (41.7 boards per game) and ranks second in scoring (86.5 points per game).

The team sees four players average in double figures led by Lovell with over 18 points and 12 rebounds per game. Sophomore forward Jaqhawn Walters (Hartford, Conn.) is also averaging a double-double this winter, scoring over 16 per tilt and pulling down 10 boards a contest. Wilson has emerged as a scoring threat later in the year, scoring 20 or more points in two consecutive games.
