Winthrop, Mass. – Albertus Magnus College junior men's basketball player Jaqhawn Walters (Hartford, Conn.) was tabbed as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon as announced by the league office.

Walters earns the distinction for the second week in a row and second time this season, joining Lasell's Armin Omanovic as the only player to receive the accolade more than once.

The 6-6, third-year forward scored 22 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in a non-conference setback against New Jersey City to close out the calendar year. Walters hit 8-of-15 shots from the field to go along with knocking down six free throws. Defensively, he chipped in two blocks and one steal. The double-double was the third in a row for Walters and his seventh of the season.

Walters currently ranks second in the league in rebounds per game (12.1), second in minutes played per tilt (36.9), fifth in points per contest (17.1), seventh in field goal percentage (51.3%) and ninth in assists per game (3.0).

The men's basketball team returns to action on Thursday, January 5, with a road GNAC showdown against Norwich that is slated to begin at 7:00 pm. Albertus Magnus swept the season series versus the Cadets last winter and the Falcons enter the tilt riding a 16-game winning streak against Norwich.
