HoopDirt.com Release

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Albertus Magnus College men's basketball head coach Mitch Oliver was named this week's HoopDirt.com Coach of the Week. This is the eighth season that HoopDirt.com has run the Coach of the Week and Coach of the Year programs.

Oliver's Falcons ripped through the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament and defeated the No. 1 team in the country to capture the program's ninth championship title on Sunday afternoon in West Hartford, Conn. AMC opened the tournament by hanging a program-record 128 points on Colby-Sawyer College on Tuesday evening. The blue-and-white then traveled to Emmanuel (Mass.) College, the top-seed in the North Division, where they won to advance to their 11th straight GNAC Championship. The Falcons' win against No. 1 nationally-ranked Saint Joseph (CT) in the title game snapped the Blue Jays' streak of 27 straight wins.

For the eighth time in program history, the men's basketball team will play in the NCAA Division III Tournament, which is set to begin Friday, March 3. The Falcons are 19-9 on the year and will face John Carroll University in the tournament's first round at Oswego State University in Oswego, New York.
