Daniels, Ford, Jr. Named To All-GNAC Team

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Ta'zhon Daniels (New Haven, Conn.) was named to the All-Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) First Team and Ray Ford, Jr. (Jersey City, N.J.) was named to the third team as the conference announced its major awards and all-conference team.

Daniels had a breakout season, averaging a career-high 17 points per game and 3.9 assists per game. His points per game ranked him ninth in the GNAC. His 51 steals ranked him fifth in the GNAC and his 87.8 free-throw percentage ranked him third.

Daniels had nine games scoring over 20 points, including four games over 30 points. 

In a 116-56 win over Colby-Sawyer on January 4, Daniels scored a career-high 32 points, including 4-for-7 from three with three assists. In a 90-78 win over Emmanuel on February 4, Daniels matched his career-high with another 32-point performance to go with two assists and three steals.

Daniels also scored 31 points against both Saint Joseph's College (Maine) and Anna Maria College. He also had a career-high eight steals against Anna Maria.

In a win over Emerson on November 20, Daniels made a three-pointer at the buzzer to give the Falcons a 68-65 win.

Six times this season Daniels was named to the GNAC Honor Roll.

Ford, Jr. was named to the third team after averaging 15.1 points per game on the season. He had seven games scoreing over 20 points in a game, including 22 points in the team's opening game against No. 3 John Carroll.

He scored a career-high 29 points in a win over Norwich on February 1st with eight rebounds and four steals. He shot 4-for-5 from three in the game.

Against the University of Saint Joseph, Ford, Jr. scored 27 points on 9-for-14 shooting with five rebounds as the Falcons snapped USJ's 71-game conference winning streak in the 76-62 win on February 8th.

Earlier in the season he was named to the All-Tournament team of the 26th Annual Larance Hospitality Tournament.

BJ Holmes (Branford, Conn.) was named to the GNAC All-Sportsmanship team.
