Men's Golf in 20th After the Opening Round of the Blazer Invitational

Longmeadow, Mass. – The Albertus Magnus College men's golf team is in 20th place after the opening round of the Blazer Invitational hosted by Elms and being contested at the par-70 Elmcrest Country Club on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons shot a team score of 379 and are seven shots behind 19th-place Massachusetts College.

Junior righty Aaron Macchia (Utica, N.Y.) paced the Albertus Magnus attack for the third straight round, firing a six-over par 76 to sit in a tie for 15th after the opening 18 holes. On the day, Macchia played the par-five's one-under par and the par-three's one-over. He also carded a team-best 11 pars on the afternoon.

Junior Tyler Donnan (Meriden, Conn.) was second on the team with a 98 to sit in 93rd after the first round. Sophomore southpaw Zach Schatz (East Haven, Conn.) entered the clubhouse three shots behind Donnan in 94th with a 101. Rounding out the scorers for Albertus Magnus were junior lefty Tom Moore (East Haven, Conn.) and senior Anthony Pellegrino (Branford, Conn.). Moore ended the day with a 104 to sit in 96th and Pellegrino carded a 113 to land in 100th.

The Falcons concluded their first tournament of 2015 tomorrow, Sunday, September 27 with the final round of the Blazer Invitational. Albertus Magnus will look to jump up the leaderboard in their first-ever varsity tournament.
