Men's Golf Ends Its Inaugural Varsity Season with a Match Versus Johnson & Wales

New Haven, Conn. – The Albertus Magnus College men's golf team saw its inaugural varsity season come to an end on Friday afternoon with a loss in a dual match to Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) foe Johnson & Wales. The Wildcats scored a 336-398 victory at the par-72 Alling Memorial Golf Course.

Albertus Magnus junior Aaron Macchia (Utica, N.Y.) shot an 80 to tie for low individual medalist honors with Alan Ferrara of Johnson & Wales.

During his round, Macchia carded a 40 on both the front and back nine. He ended his front par-par-birdie. On the day, he carded a team-high nine pars and one birdie. Macchia earned a share of the lead for the second straight home dual match after winning last time out.

Sophomore Zach Schatz (East Haven, Conn.) came in second for the Falcons. In his final round of the autumn, he registered three pars and knocked home a birdie on the par-4 fifth hole. Juniors Tom Moore (East Haven, Conn.) and Tyler Donnan (Meriden, Conn.) were next on the score sheet for Albertus Magnus. Moore ended the day with a pair of pars and Donnan recorded four pars on his opening nine holes.

Rounding out the scoring for the Falcons was senior righty Anthony Pellegrino (Branford, Conn.).

It was a successful first fall on the links for the Falcons, as the team competed in four tournaments and earned their first-ever dual match victory back in late September at home against Eastern Nazarene. The contest this afternoon also marked the final collegiate contest for Pellegrino.
