Men's Golf Tabbed Second in GNAC Pre-Championship Coaches' Poll

WINTHROP, Mass. – Just a few days before the 2021-22 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Golf Championship, the league's office released the results to the pre-championship coaches' poll, which was voted on by the five head coaches.

Taking the top spot in the poll is Saint Joseph's College of Maine, who garnered 23 points and three first-place votes. The Monks finished as runners up to the Falcons at last season's 2020-21 GNAC Championship, finishing 23 strokes behind Albertus Magnus College at the one-day event.

The defending GNAC Champions, Albertus Magnus, were slotted second overall with 21 points and the remaining two first-place votes. The Falcons will look to replicate last season's magic that earned the program its first-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

Dean College and Elms College took the third and fourth spots on the coaches' poll with 14 and 11 points, respectively. Dean took third at last year's championship,  while this season marks Elms' first as a member of the conference.

Emmanuel (Mass.) College rounded out the poll taking the fifth slot with six points.

The two-day GNAC Championship will begin on Monday, Oct. 11, at the New Haven Country Club, with the first group of golfers set to tee off at 11 a.m. A champion will be crowned on Tuesday, Oct. 12, with the festivities set to begin at 10 a.m. Next week's winner will receive the GNAC's automatic berth to the 2022 NCAA Division III Championships next spring.
