Men's Golf Rallies to Place Second at GNAC Championship

SACO, Maine – The Albertus Magnus College men's golf team fought its way to a second-place finish at the two-day 2022 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship, hosted on Monday and Tuesday at the Biddeford-Saco Country Club, after a strong showing in round two.

The Falcons took second place with a two-day team score of 665 (+97), two strokes ahead of third-place Elms College (667), who entered today nine strikes ahead of AMC. Saint Joseph's College of Maine (626) won its second consecutive league title with an outstanding showing on its home course. Norwich University (672), who entered the day tied with Albertus, finished in fourth place, while Dean College (712) and Emmanuel (Mass.) College (713) rounded out the participants in fifth and sixth place, respectively.

NOTES
Shamar Wilson (Montego Bay, Jamaica) led the way for the Falcons in his first GNACs, finishing in seventh place with a combined score of 161 (+19).
• Wilson shed seven strokes off his score from round one to round two, tallying two birdies and nine pars today on the challenging course.
David Aquavia (Oakville, Conn.) placed next for AMC in ninth with a final score of 165 (+23).
• Aquavia showed the most improvement amongst Albertus' golfers, as he cut nine strokes between rounds to climb his way into the top 10.
Kyle Sikorski (Norwich, Conn.) capped off his first career conference championship by placing in a tie for 12th with a score of 169 (+27).
• Sikorski continued the Falcons' trend of improving their scores in round two, as he shaved three strokes. The freshman also finished with one birdie in both rounds, as he carded a three on the par-four 16th today.
Devin Hines (West Haven, Conn.) placed fourth for Albertus at the GNACs, finishing 16th with a final score of 171 (+29).
• Just like Sikorski, Hines trimmed three strokes between rounds, ending round two with eight pars, four on the front and four on the back.
• Capping off the Falcons' stellar second round was Charles Kristofak (West Hartford, Conn.), who ended the event in 17th place with a combined score of 172 (+30).
• Kristofak shaved six strokes today as he capped off the event with back-to-back birdies on the 17th and 18th holes.
• The Falcons have finished second place in the last two GNAC Championships, winning the league title three years ago in 2021.
