BOX SCORE

HOW IT HAPPENED
The opening period started slowly, as there were no goals for the first 19:47. However, the Eagles busted the scoring barrier first, breaking the 0-0 tie with a power-play strike with just 13 seconds on the clock. Kieran Gardner netted the first goal, sending a rocket from just inside the blue line that snuck past the goalie to his stick side.

Albertus did not waste much time to answer in the second period, evening the score at one 1:12 into the frame. Ignazzitto got on the scoresheet to begin the second, cleaning up a wide Gagnon shot that deflected straight back off the boards. Jonathan Stein (Vancouver, British Columbia) also earned an assist on the play.

However, the Falcons' newfound momentum was short-lived, as Post answered by scoring two more power-play goals in the second to take a 3-1 lead into the third. Patrick Murphy broke the 1-1 tie at the 3:47 mark, while Michael Karas widened the visitors' advantage to two, 3-1, 13:35 into the frame.

Albertus continued to fight in the third period, cutting its deficit to two, 4-2, 9:34 into the stanza. Gagnon found the back of the net after Charles Risk (Medicine Hat, Alberta) sent a pass to the middle of the zone that Gagnon guided by the keeper to his glove side.

Just like they had done all night, the Eagles answered the Falcons by tallying another goal 54 seconds later to ice the game. Weitzman's goal was the last one of the contest, as the final score sat at 5-3.
