HOW IT HAPPENED
The AMCATS got the better of the Falcons in a hard-fought first period, taking a 1-0 lead into the first break. Patrick Manning opened the game's scoring at the 2:43 mark on a wrister off a faceoff in Anna Maria's zone.

In the second period, Albertus tied the game up with a power-play goal by Gagnon 5:52 into the frame. Charles Risk (Medicine Hat, Alberta) took a shot from the blue line that careened off the keeper's pad back to an open Gagnon for the goal. Jonathan Stein (Vancouver, British Columbia) earned an assist on the goal by passing it to Risk.

Unfortunately for the Falcons, the AMCATS answered the visitors' first goal by scoring four unanswered tallies. Anna Maria found the back of the net twice before the end of the second period, before adding two more goals in the first 3:57 of the third period to storm ahead 5-1.

The Falcons started a comeback attempt at the 6:05 mark with a slapshot by Berdal. The sophomore defender rocketed a shot from the middle of the zone that sniped the top-right corner.

Weitzman continued to chisel at the deficit with a goal at the 8:28 mark. Weitzman brought the puck up the ice on the power play and deeked a defender before beating the goalie to make it a 5-3 game. Colt Corpse (Fort Wayne, Ind.) and Bateman earned assists on the goal, the second helper of the season for the goalkeeper.

Anna Maria drew an end to the comeback attempt with an empty-net goal in the final 2:22 to seal a 6-3 win for the home team.
