Manning Nets Hat Trick; Men’s Ice Hockey Rolls to 7-1 Win over King’s

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Albertus Magnus College men's ice hockey team tied a single-game program record by scoring seven goals in Friday's 7-1 road victory over King's (Pa.) College at the Revolution Ice Centre in Pittston, Pa. In the victory, sophomore forward Tim Manning (Concord, Ohio) tallied his first career hat trick.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Falcons opened the game's scoring 3:38 into the contest on a power-play strike from Manning.
Charles Risk (Medicine Hat, Alberta) sparked the opening goal by passing back and forth with Tyler Ignazzitto (Bath, Ontario) before firing a shot from the top of the zone that Manning tipped into the back of the net.
• Albertus extended its lead to 2-0 just 24 seconds later on an even-strength tally from Stephen Kyrkostas (Long Island, N.Y.).
• Kyrkostas buried a rebound off a Cameron Weitzman (Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec) shot 4:02 into the opening period.
• The Monarchs scored a goal with 2:36 left in the first to send the game into the second period, with AMC up 1-0.
• It did not take the Falcons long to add to their lead in the second period, as a 4-on-4 opportunity in the first 30 seconds of the frame led to AMC's third goal.
Sam Anderson (Calgary, Alberta) tallied the goal 27 seconds into the second by firing a saved Ryan Herpy (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) shot by the out-of-place keeper.
• Albertus netted its fourth goal by the 10:54 mark when Anderson scored again, taking advantage of the opposing goalie fumbling the puck away when he tried to cover it.
• For the second straight period, AMC scored in the first 30 seconds of the frame, as Risk rocketed a shot from the top of the zone on the power play to make it a 5-1 Falcons' lead at the start of the third.
• By the 8:04 mark of the third period, Michael Forgione (New Vernon, N.J.) gave AMC a 6-1 advantage by sending a pass across the crease on a power play that Manning slapped by the keeper on his stick side.
• Manning ended the night with a hat trick by scoring one last time with 1:57 left in the contest.
• After killing off a penalty, AMC capped its 7-1 road victory with a goal by a streaking Manning in the final minutes.
• Between the pipes, Logan Bateman (Ottawa, Ontario) secured his fourth win of the season by making 19 saves on 20 shots.
