Men’s Ice Hockey Wins Fifth Straight with 2-1 Victory over Manhattanville

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Albertus Magnus College men's ice hockey team won its fifth consecutive game on Tuesday evening, topping the visiting Valiants of Manhattanville College by a 2-1 final score at the Ralph Walker Skating Rink.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Falcons took a 1-0 advantage in the opening 5:08 of the contest, as Tyler Ignazzitto (Bath, Ontario) sent a pass off the boards that bounced straight back and allowed Alex Gagnon (Montreal, Quebec) to sneak an easy back-hand goal by an out-of-place keeper.

  • Both teams went scoreless for the remainder of the first period, as Albertus took its one-goal advantage into the second.
  • The Falcons added to their lead by the 7:27 mark of the second on a goal by Ignazzitto.
  • Ignazzitto and Gagnon connected again for AMC's second goal, as the duo worked together on the transition before Ignazzitto rocketed a shot into the inside corner.

  • Manhattanville's Parker Chadwell cut the Albertus advantage in half with a goal at the 16:21 mark of the second.
  • With the lead at the start of the third period, Logan Bateman (Ottawa, Ontario) stood on his head to earn his sixth win of the year.
  • Bateman made 16 saves in the third period, including a sliding save in the final seconds off a beautiful face-off play by the Valiants.
