BOSTON, Mass. – After a terrific, break-out season as a sophomore, Albertus Magnus College men's ice hockey forward Tim Manning (Concord, Ohio) has been chosen as a semifinalist for the 21st Joe Concannon Award, presented annually to the best American-born NCAA Division II/III college hockey student-athlete in New England.

Manning was one of 20 forwards chosen to this year's semifinalist award out of the 30-person pool of honorees. The Concord, Ohio native is also the first student-athlete in program history to earn this recognition.

Manning appeared in 24 games this season and made 10 starts for the blue-and-white. He scored a career-best 11 goals and tallied 10 assists to finish the season second on the team with 21 total points. Manning recorded four game-winning goals, including the decisive strike against perennial powerhouse Tufts University and Anna Maria College. He also nabbed one of the only two short-handed goals from the Falcons' offense this season with a late tally in the Falcons' 3-0 victory over Morrisville. Additionally, Manning netted three power-play goals against Anna Maria, King's (PA) College, and Neumann University.

The Joe Concannon Award was established in 2001, shortly after the passing of the longtime writer for The Boston Globe, who had a great passion for the game of college hockey while always advocating strongly for amateur athletics.

"This year has truly been the most dynamic and competitive at the DII/III level in many seasons" said Gridiron Club Hockey Awards Committee chairman Tim Costello. "The competitiveness from top to bottom and the number of outstanding individual efforts throughout the season has made this year's group of nominees the deepest and most diverse the committee has seen in the history of the award. The 33 semifinalists represent our largest field in the 22-year history of the Concannon Award and it was very difficult to get it down to that number. We expect to see the field sort itself out in the course of the final weeks of the regular season, conference championship tournaments and the NCAA title chase in March."

The Gridiron Club will announce the finalists and winner of the 22nd Joe Concannon Award in March, following league playoffs and before the start of NCAA Frozen Four on March 24 & 26.
