Men's Ice Hockey Highlights Division III Independent All-Conference Teams

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Division III Independent Men's Ice Hockey schools - Albertus Magnus College, Anna Maria College, Rivier University, and SUNY Canton – announced their 2022-23 Ice Hockey All-Conference Teams on Tuesday afternoon.

Albertus Magnus swept the major awards, as forward Alex Gagnon (Montreal, Quebec) was named Player of the Year, forward Caden Pattison (Lake Stevens, Washington) earned Rookie of the Year, Logan Bateman (Ottawa, Ontario) was selected as Goalkeeper of the Year, and head coach Kyle Wallack was named the Coach of the Year. 

Gagnon led the Falcons' offense with 33 points behind 13 goals and 20 assists. Gagnon netted five power-play goals this season with the Falcons and tallied one of his two game-winning goals in the Falcons' 4-3 win over Cortland. The Montreal, Quebec native recorded eight multi-point games for the blue-and-white, including two four-point games against Connecticut College and Neumann University. 

Pattison recorded 12 points on eight goals and four assists during his rookie campaign. He also fired off 43 shots over 23 games played.   

Bateman appeared in 18 games in net for the Falcons and posted an overall record of 13-4 behind a .932 save percentage. Over 1,000 minutes played, Bateman recorded 454 saves and finished with a 1.97 goals-against average. He also recorded 13 games with 20+ saves and six games with 30+ saves, including a season-high 47 against Tufts University. 

Under the leadership of Wallack, Albertus Magnus put up a program-best 17-7-1 record, eclipsing their previous program-best 16 wins from last season. Led by senior forward Gagnon, senior defender Risk, and senior netminder Bateman, the Falcons secured victories over ice hockey powerhouses Wilkes College, Tufts University, nationally-ranked No. 15 Wesleyan (Conn.), and nationally-ranked No. 22 Trinity (Conn.).  

Along with Gagnon and Bateman, Charles Risk (Medicine Hat, Alberta) represented Albertus on the First Team squad. Joining the trio of Falcons is SUNY Canton's Zach Sirota and Brendan Morrow, and Rivier's Logan Dapprich.  

Risk anchored the Falcon's backline on defense, dishing out 13 assists to go along with five goals scored, two on the power play, while also taking 77 shots. 

Sam Anderson (Calgary, Alberta) rounded out the Falcons' award winners as he was named to the Second Team after tallying a career-best 20 points on 11 goals and nine assists. Over 25 games played, Anderson recorded six multi-point games, scored three power-play goals, and netted the Falcons' game-winning goal in the 5-4 win over Trinity.
