Wallack Selected as CCM/AHCA College Division (II-III) Men's Coach of the Year Finalist

COMPLETE AHCA RELEASE

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Albertus Magnus College men's ice hockey Head Coach Kyle Wallack was named a finalist for the 2022-23 Edward Jeremiah Award, given annually to the College Division (II-III) Men's Ice Hockey Coach of the Year, as announced Monday by the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA).

The nominees represent any coach who won or shared Coach of the Year honors in his conference this past season, along with coaches whose teams advanced to the NCAA Men's Division III Ice Hockey Championships to be hosted by Endicott College this weekend. This award is named in honor of the former Dartmouth head coach and is sponsored by CCM, the Jeremiah Award will be announced on Thursday, March 23.

Under the leadership of Wallack, Albertus Magnus put up a program-best 17-7-1 record, eclipsing their previous program-best 16 wins from last season and recording the most wins for an independent program. AMC's 17-win season was five better than the next-best Division III independent program, SUNY Canton, with 12 wins. Wallack was also recently named the Division III Men's Ice Hockey Independent Schools Coach of the Year.

Albertus' 2022-23 season was highlighted by a six-game winning streak, which included a 5-4 overtime victory over No. 10 Trinity (Conn.) University and a program record seven goals in the Falcons' 7-1 road win over Kings (Pa.) College. Albertus also secured victories over ice hockey powerhouses Hamilton College, Tufts University, and Wesleyan (Conn.) University.

After going 4-18-2 in its inaugural campaign, Albertus showed dramatic improvement in season two by going 16-8-1 for a .660 win percentage, the 22nd-best mark in all of DIII. Last season, Wallack was also named a finalist for the 2021-22 Edward Jeremiah Award.
