HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Hale stopped all six shots he faced in net in the first period as his counterpart Brody Haynes stopped seven as the teams played to a draw over the first 20 minutes.
  • Elmira broke the scoreless tie late in the second period as Seth Ferguson deflected in a shot from Bailey Krawczyk at the 14:40 and the Soaring Eagles went in to the final period leading 1-0.
  • Just 4:08 into the third, Manning put the Falcons on the board and tied the game with his second goal of the season. On the goal, Tyler Ignazzitto (Bath, Ontario) started the break with a pass to Akezhan Melis (Wexford, Pa.) who skated down the right side of the ice along the boards. Manning then took a pass from Melis while cutting to the net and put the puck home to make it a 1-1 game.
  • At the 8:59 mark, Elmira scored the eventual game-winner at the 8:59 mark as Brennan Boyce snapped a shot home after receiving a pass from behind the net by Chance Gorman. The Falcons took 18 shots on goal in the third period.
