FINAL: Albertus Magnus 2 | Wesleyan 1 (OT)
RECORDS: Albertus (4-3-1) | Wesleyan (1-4)
HOW IT HAPPENED
The first period saw both goaltenders stonewall the offense as Hale had seven saves for the Falcons and his counterpart, Patrick McDevitt stopped all eight shots he faced in net.
The two goals in the second period came 59 seconds apart in the second period and inside the first two minutes. Just 27 seconds into the period, Wesleyan's Connor Sutherland put the Cardinals on the board as he took a pass from Tanner Kontir on a 2-on-2 rush and fired from the right faceoff circle to make it a 1-0 game.
At the 1:26 mark of the second period, Connor Bertamini (Calgary, Alberta) fed a pass to Tim Manning (Concord, Ohio), whose point blank shot was stopped, but Ignazzitto was there to put home his second goal of the season to tie the game at 1-1.
Later in the period, the Falcons fought off a five-minute power-play as Hale stopped all five shots he faced. Albertus also won four faceoffs over the power play, allowing them to dump the puck down ice out of the Wesleyan offensive zone.
In the third period, the Cardinals had a goal disallowed when Kontir slammed into Hale with just under seven minutes left as the puck went into the back of the net.
At the 3:03 mark in overtime Kindrachuk raced down the length of the ice with the puck, beat a defender to his right and fired home a shot over the left shoulder of McDevitt for his second goal of the season.
