- Just over midway through the first period, Hicks scored his fifth goal of the season on a wide open net after Eric Chamandy (Montreal, Quebec) found him on a 2-on-1 break.
- Albertus went into the first intermission with the 2-0 lead as Chace Hale (Pittsburgh, Pa.) stopped all 11 shots he faced in net for Albertus.

The Falcons took advantage as Andrew Van Antwerp found Connor Bertamini who ripped a one-timer that was tipped by Barrasso in front of the net to put Albertus up 3-2.
